I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough

This dress doesn't photograph so well. In person I think its much lovelier. Maybe it's just where I take the pictures though. My parents house is really ugly so I'm forced to take shots in front of these dumb palm trees in the back yard.

Oh well, I'm moving this week, so I'll have to find all new places to take my pictures. Sadly there aren't any fantastic trees around the new house at all. I'll have to explore the neighborhood and see what interesting locations I can find.

The best part of the new house is that it is less than one mile to a Target. Granted it's just a dinky Target, but its one none the less. Quite a far leap from the 100+ miles I was this summer. I hope I don't go broke.

Speaking of Target, I had a panic attack there last week. I haven't had one in forever. I've been extremely stressed out and worried and it just came over me. I couldn't go anywhere and hide either so I was wandering around trying to distract myself. I was all numb and tunnel visiony through the whole store, but I did manage to try on these beyond adorable shoes. They're like 4 inch wedges so I am unbelievably tall in them. I have to have them though. When they go on sale.

Hat & Sandals: Target  Dress: Thrift  Earrings: Bealls
I think all my clothes come from these 3 places. I really need to branch out and find a h&m or Forever 21. Fort Myers is lame!

Now Playing: Cee-Lo Green. You know, his performance at the Grammy's with Gwyneth Paltrow almost made me like her. Almost.

with the taste of poison paradise

I thrifted this skirt last week. Its pretty alright. I'm sure it'll look better once I lose some weight, I'm kinda curvy in it right now.

I love the little flowers. It looks handmade too. No tag or anything.

I'm so jealous of people who are good at sewing. I'm okay at reconstructing or mending, but the only thing I've ever made from 'scratch' if you will is a poodle skirt a few years ago. I wish I still had it. It was super cute. Kinda short though.

Glasses & Top: Bealls  Sweater: Target  Skirt: Thrift  Shoes: Someplace in Georgia

Speaking of reconstructing/ mending... I have this awesome shirt that I hulked the back out of a couple months ago.
I don't know how, it just happened. It has a tear in the middle of the back. So I was thinking I should just take out a panel of the back and put some embroidery or sheer fabric or something in. I found the best sheer butterfly fabric at the store the other day and bought some. Now I just have to get the cajones to make my snips and stitches. I don't know why I'm so scared. Its not like I wear the shirt now anyways. I'm hoping that putting it in my blog will hold me accountable.

Ha! Yeah right. My batting average is like 50% right now. We'll see what happens.

Now Playing: Yes, sometimes I listen to Britney Spears. Deal with it. (Toxic)

Totes Goats!

There is this fantastic produce stand nearby that has a goat farm on its premises. I needed tomatoes a couple weeks ago so I figured we should pay it a visit. Lo got a kick out of the goats. There were a bunch of babies and they were as sweet as could be.

Disregard the goat poop, they aren't the cleanest animals in the world apparently.

This guy was my absolute favorite. He was really short but he was built and had fierce horns. So cute!

Music Monday: Yeasayer

Okay guys, I won't lie. I'm still incredibly hooked on Mumford & Sons. Sigh No More is definately in my top 10 albums for life.

I did manage to put iTunes on shuffle the other day and this one popped up. Its a great song, super catchy and dancy. So this music monday is dedicated to O.N.E.

2011 Resolutions Update: April

Its been almost 2 months since I posted my resolutions for this year, I want to go back and see how I'm doing with them.

Get healthy: Mmm, not so much. Still planning to. I have spurts, then I go on chocolate binges. Stress is such a doozy.

Cut back on caffeine: Ha! I started drinking coffee.

Drink water: I've been doing okay at this.

Stop biting nails: I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to stop.

Stop yelling @ Logan: I hardly ever yell at him. I guess I used to do it more, so I have been successful at this.

Get pharm cert: Still thinking about it.

Open store: At this point, I think I'm just scared to. There's always something else I need before I can open it. Right now its a printer and dress form.

Save money: Not successful, still very hopeful.

Floss more: Psh. I thought my toothpaste did that.

Learn to tie ties: I learned that my brother ties ties the best.

Learn to crochet/knit: I had a Happy Hooker book checked out from the library for 2 months. Still can't get past my first row.

Learn to skate: Tried skating, have skates, still not so successful.

Take up piano/ learn music: Checked out a book, never opened it.

Brilliant ideas: Trying! It always seems like I have so many other things I have to do first though.

Stop doubting self: Working on it. I think I'm being successful.

Jesus & study Bible: Working on it. Bible isn't going so well. See brilliant ideas answer. Shameful, I know.

Eliminate stress: I think I'm one of those high strung personalities that can't. Or maybe I can. We'll see.

Stop being in limbo: I think limbo defines my life at this point. :/

Joie de Vivre: Its there somewhere. Sometimes it pops out, sometimes I cry myself to sleep and don't move besides for Logan for hours on end. Its a process.

Be awesome: Puhlease, totally am.

Dress fabulously: I guess I do okay.

Have good friends: Getting there.

DIY Friday: Easy peasy layered hair

I know you can find this information various places on the internet, but I gleaned it from a few places and never before has it been so awesomely illustrated!

I've probably cut 4 or 5 inches off my hair in the past few weeks with this tutorial. I only did 2 inches the first time, but the results were so awesome I got scissor happy again and cut some more off. I recommend only cutting like 1/2 an inch at a time because cutting your own hair off is nerve wracking. I mean, maybe. Some people are professionals and its a piece of cake, me, I've only ever dabbled in bang cutting.

Materials:
Hair cutting scissors.
Very important. Don't use your kitchen or crafting scissors. So bad for your hair. I got mine at Target. They weren't too expensive and they're leopard print (natch)!  I think I'll be investing in some nice ones from Sally's soon though.
Hair ties.

Make sure your hair is relatively straight. The first time I cut mine, it was dry. The second time I did it right after I washed it and it was much easier. Its probably better for your hair too if you cut it wet. Just remember, wet hair dries shorter!

1. Gather all your hair in a ponytail. I put mine right at my hairline so that my layers were more noticible. In theory, the lower your pony tail is, the closer together the layers are. Make sure its as even as you can get it.

2. Pull hair in front of your face, again making it even.

3. Snip off hair in a straight line. I recomend going slow, just 1/2 an inch or so at a time.

If you want layers that frame your face:

4. Part hair all the way down as even as you can. Put each section in a ponytail on the sides of your head, as close to the middle as you can get.

5. Tilt your head so that your ponytail is perpendicular to your head. Snip off just a little bit to make it a straighter line. You don't have to cut off too much because you already cut off the layers, you just want to get it to frame your face.

6. Then you just dry your hair and style it. Yay! Super awesome and easy!
