I don't know why it has taken me so long to use last fm. I've been listening to the Mumford & Sons station a lot (natch) and this song popped up last week and I absolutely loved it. I had to download all his stuff and am really enjoying it as of late.

I could listen to this song a thousand million times and never hear it enough. So good. Its kind of sad how I constantly relate though, at what point do I get past all this? I hate how I'm always deviating. Meh.

Music Monday: Neon Trees
Quick one 'cause I've got tons of stuff to do... Neon Trees. Have I done these guys on here before? Hmmm, yes. But not as a Music Monday. Some store was playing them the other day and I couldn't stop singing, so I'm dedicating today to them. Enjoy:
I actually haven't seen this version of Animal before. I think I kind of like it better.
I'm posting this one for Lo 'cause he likes to disturb me by saying he has 'Bieber Fever'.
I really wish someone would punch me in the side of the face and knock this stupid pain in the ass tooth out. Uuuuugh. It's killing me!

I've been doing like an hour of Just Dance 2 for my cardio this past week. I keep setting my alarm for 5 to go for a run but it never ever happens. Waking up is my least favorite part of the day. Just Dance is way funner anyways.
My favorite song to warm up to is by Mika and I had forgotten how awesome he is, therefore I want to dedicate this Music Monday to him!

Ugh. I'm so grossly uninspired lately. Idk if its overwhelming laziness or what but my motivation is extremely nil. I'm pushing myself past it, but I'm so not good with follow through. We'll see how it goes.
This week I'm going to feature OneRepublic. They're the only thing I've downloaded in a while. My family was watching The Sorcerer's Apprentice the other night and I kept hearing this song and figured I should get the whole album because I really dig their singles. I'm feeling the instrumentalness of it all. Pretty good chill music.
this video is almost epic.
I remember when I lived in Bradenton zoning out to them on theCoolTV. Dude... If you don't get the Cool Tv you are completely missing out. If it wasn't for them I would have never known that 'I could feel so fly (like a G6)'.

In other music news, I have a mandolin and am learning to play it! So excited. I have to restring it though because my hands are stupid and I have to play backwards because I'm special like that. My unexpected folk transformation is almost complete. Wish me luck!

Music Monday: They Might Be Giants
I stumbled across this tumblr yesterday and it's pretty amazing. I was inspired to dedicate this Music Monday to the fantastic band that is They Might Be Giants.
I have to leave off with this one because it is the most amazing video and song in the world!

Orchids are my all time favorite flowers. I could gaze at them for hours. I love how there are so many types and they are so unique and completely gorgeous. When I was at Lowe's the other day I noticed they had the most beautiful blue ones. I covet thee. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the White Stripes. But aren't they just so lovely? I know, I know. I've done the the Stripes before, but I thought these delightful flowers merited another visit. Plus the White Stripes always need to be remembered & this song and video are beyond amazing. Seriously. I'm watching it and I want to vomit. Its that good.

Music... Wednesday: TVOTR
I just learned that Gerard Smith of TV on the Radio has passed away. Super sad. I was fortunate enough to see them perform at Bonnaroo in 2009.
I need to check out their new album.

Ohmygoodness, is there a more wonderful band? Don't you just feel like the coolest thing ever when you're driving around in your car when its raining or late at night listening to them? Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Camborello created pure ear orgasm magic.
Give Up will eternally be in my top ten, maybe even top 5. There is not one single bad song on that album. I can't really say anything else, I mean, you know how fantastic they are, right? You have to! Unless you live under a rock.
I love love LOVE this video! This song is almost played too much, but the video... FANTASTIC!
You know I've never really liked Deathcab for Cutie, but I think I should give them another chance. That and Bright Eyes. Maybe my taste has changed and I'll like them.
Clark Gable is my favoritest song on that album. Mostly because I'm a Clark Gable freak, but I like the lyrics a lot too.
"And I kissed you in a style Clark Gable would have admired/ I thought it classic" = Epic!

Okay guys, I won't lie. I'm still incredibly hooked on Mumford & Sons. Sigh No More is definately in my top 10 albums for life.
I did manage to put iTunes on shuffle the other day and this one popped up. Its a great song, super catchy and dancy. So this music monday is dedicated to O.N.E.

No Music Monday today because I'm still hooked on the Mumford & Sons. Leave me some comments of bands to check out, pretty please!
In the meantime, check out Kaelah's Mixtape Monday because the Old 97's are fantastic!
Writing that reminded me of Spacehog so I'll leave you with the holy awesomeness that is them:
Xo!

The sun, it rises slowly as you walk.
This will be a combination Music Monday / Outfit post. Because I'm awesome like that. And that happens to be how I wrote it. It wasn't intended, but I got a little fanatic in the writing up of the outfit.
I've been listening to Mumford & Sons on repeat. You know how people say "I've been looking at whatever so much, I can see it when I close my eyes?" Well, I'm like that, but I hear picking when I close my ears. If that's possible.
I love their sound so much. Which is weird because I'm not so big on folk/ bluegrass. But they're fantastical. I've always wanted to play banjo, but now I need one. I wonder if it would be possible to thrift one this week. That would be uh-MAY-zing. I'll pray real hard. My prayers for unsecured internet and not missing my bus have been coming true, maybe they'll work on donated musical instruments too.
I guess it kinda sorta goes against my whole giving up excessive shopping for Lent thing though, huh? Meh. It really feels like a necessity at this point! And you're supposed to fast/pray/give... isn't thrifting like an extremely good cause to give to?
![]() |
This is a really horrible picture of what I would look like with a banjo. Maybe I should reconsider now that I see what it would do to my arms... |
I've been doing pretty good at Lent goals. I mean, obviously I've eaten. I'm too much of a moody fatty to not eat. I lasted like 2 days. It was Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cereal that did me in. I'm going to keep trying. Eventually I'll be a master faster. I hope. At least my stomach must have shrunk a little because I can eat barely anything and be full. I'm kind of getting off on the not shopping bit. Its such a band aid of an addiction. I feel so powerful not giving into it!
I wish I could get a good picture of my nails. I used Pamplemousse!'s tutorial for glitter french manicure and love the way it turned out. They're coral with yellow glitter. Kinda Easter eggish. They actually match pretty well with my skirt though so I guess it all worked out.
This was my church outfit this week. My mom completely scoffed at my striped shirt with flower skirt. She's so conservative. It wasn't even that risky, the colors completely matched. I've had this skirt forever. I don't even remember where I purchased it. Ross maybe. I find I gravitate towards off white/ ivory a lot. I have tons of dresses this color and rarely wear them because c'mon. They're off white. What is wrong with me?
Scarf/headband: Joanne Fabrics Shirt: Aeropostale via thrift Skirt: We'll say Ross Shoes: You'll laugh, but I got them at Dollar General Bracelets: Bealls. |
Oi vey! I think I write too much in these posts. I can't help it though. I have no friends and Logo gets sick of hearing my crap. So if my blog doesn't get it my head will explode! You don't want that, now do you?

I thought that Neutral Milk Hotel was a one and done and was going to do a feature on one album wonder bands but in my research I discovered they have other stuff that I must hunt down asap.
That being said, this feature will be on the fantastically-wonderful, so-sad-they-are-no-longer-putting-out-music Neutral Milk Hotel. Yes, I know you could say the Decemberists sound a lot like them, and I see where you could get that, but there's just something about Jeff Mangum's voice combined with the way they play their instruments that does things to me. I can't describe it, its just magic. I don't know if it has something to do with the first time I heard them or that his lyrics paint incredibly colorful pictures, but listening to Aeroplane puts me in good head space. The lyrics aren't always the happiest but they're incredibly real and I can respect that.
I'm not trying to knock the Decemberists at all. They are very good too and will have their place in the sun on here sometime soon. I need to get their new album and see what I think of it, I've heard mixed reviews. I'm pretty stoked I'll see them at Bonnaroo this year!
Back to NMH though. I think I could honestly put Aeroplane Over the Sea in my top 12. Its that good. If you haven't heard it, you absolutely must! I don't know what else I could say, just listen to them and let the music speak for itself.

music monday (on tuesday...)
It really works out well since I was planning to finish Pere Goriot this week and review that but unfortunately a drink was spilled on him and he was completely ruined. No fear though, I am borrowing a copy and will review next week.
I've been super digging Camera Obscura lately. I looooove the sound they have. If I could singing talent and it couldn't be like Zooey, I would love to sing like this lady. Actually, she has that vibe, her voice is just a bit higher. They're from Scotland (represent!) I guess they're big song was French Navy which is completely fabulous, but I honestly love all 4 albums they have released. Such amazing chill music. I guess it has a kinda 50's feel to it. I can't sing their praises enough, you have to check them out!

Music Monday: The White Stripes
I'm dedicating this music monday to the White Stripes. Everyone is aware of how awesome they are. If you aren't, shame on you. Jack & Meg, as a band, you will be missed.
UHOH
I always said this would be my song if I ever was a stripper. It's really sexy imo.
Ahhhh loooooove matadors.
So yeah, best of luck on your future endeavors guys!

I'm letting my iTunes pick the band.
Okay, here's a secret. I had listened to them before but never really paid attention. Last year when I was getting gung ho for Bonnaroo & then after I was like 'what is wrong with me? YYY is AMAZEBALLS!' So then I was all about them. Karen O is effing awesome. But I'm sure you all are quite aware.
this video always makes me cry. that one tear is so powerful.

Final note: when you look at the word 'yeah' a lot, it starts to be funny looking and you wonder if you've spelled it wrong.

music monday
i'm attempting daily post things.
i'm being generic because i was thinking of being random and not using alliteration or doing like 'tunes tuesday' but tunes is a really stupid word and alliteration is awesome and i remember i had this kick ass teacher in high school (mr. riddle) and he was appalled at how stupid his ap english class was so he made us this list of terms you should know in english and that was one of them and i will always remember those words until the end of time. sadly i can not remember the name of said list, but it had a really good name. so if any of you douche bags from high school stumbles upon my humble little blog, please remind me and i'll give you a cookie. or cupcake because they are so hot right now, right? why are cupcakes trending? seriously. everyone realizes, even babies, who don't know anything at all, that miniature cakes with frosting and sprinkles are the knees of the bees. it does not need to be shoved in our faces, like omg these tasty morsels are so new and completely fetch!
another option i was considering for monday was mustaches. i don't think anyone else appreciates facial hair as much as me though. so maybe i'll do a mini mustache monday post later and that will be the end of it.
holy stream of consciousness! sorry, sometimes i roll like that.
anyways, onto my post.
MUSIC MONDAY (MONDAY) (MONDAY)
i haven't been listening to a lot of music lately. i decided i should tonight and man what a difference! i mean tiffany without music and a listless vegetable, seriously. tiffany with music is like tiffany on crack. fun times man. sort of. i mean it's just me and my music, nothing too crazy, but i am pretty upbeat and dancing by myself.
there are several concerts coming up this fall that i would die to go to. i probably won't be able to see them all because i would need to win the lottery or something but how great would that be?
i think i'll just post some youtube song videos, maybe a couple music videos. i'm sorry in advance.
